Ever wake up one day with one thought: I Gotta Cut Tha Sh*t Today? And mean the term SH*T in a very vague but clear way? Have you ever woken up and decided that you have to make some drastic changes in your life? Have you finally come to a point where you have decided that settling is simply not an option?
That's exactly what Violet Jones, Sanaa Lathan's character in "Nappily Ever After", is going through. Her character is met with some pretty hard truths. She has an unhealthy obsession with perfection, self worth and confidence issues, and career struggles. The key to getting through it all: figuring out who you really are and what you want.
STEP ONE: SURROUND YOURSELF WITH LOVE & SUPPORT
Time to get rid of the drama in your life. Surround yourself with those who provide love and support in your life. We often hold on to people and situations because we feel we owe them something. Whether its our loyalty or kind words, we should reconsider maintaining relationships that hinder us. Lets let go of relationships that no longer pour into our growth.
STEP TWO: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
Many of us are told that it is selfish to only think about ourselves. What about when you have lived and only considered the feelings of others. Never forget to take care of yourself as a whole, before anything. Take some time out to make sure you are physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. Set that therapist, dentist, and eye appointment. Invest in your skin care regime, not just the latest eyeshadow palette. Take time to get physically fit. It will do wonders for your mood.
STEP THREE: LIVE A LITTLE BIT
Don't forget to live a little bit. Plan that trip you've always wanted to go on. Then... GO!! We often get so caught up in our everyday schedules and obligations, that we forget to have a little fun. Sit down and write your own bucket list. This is a list of things that you have always wanted to do. One by one tackle them! It makes life a lot more colorful.
